Official Notice from KMRA

KMRA is pleased to inform our valued clients that, on April 15, 2026, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) officially published:

ISO 14001:2026 – Environmental management systems — Requirements with guidance for use

This edition replaces ISO 14001:2015 and introduces updates to address changes in organizational context, environmental management requirements, and global sustainability trends.

In accordance with the requirements of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and its member accreditation bodies, organizations currently certified to ISO 14001:2015 will have a three-year transition period from the date of publication of the new standard.

KMRA is currently monitoring the official transition guidance issued by the IAF and relevant accreditation bodies. Once the official guidance documents are published, we will inform our valued clients of:

  • The transition timeline;
  • Applicable requirements;
  • The transition audit plan; and
  • The necessary preparations to meet the requirements of the new edition.

In the meantime, KMRA recommends that clients:

  • Monitor updates and information related to ISO 14001:2026;
  • Conduct a preliminary assessment of changes that may affect their environmental management systems; and
  • Proactively develop a system update plan to ensure a smooth transition once the official requirements take effect.

KMRA remains committed to supporting our clients throughout the transition process and ensuring that certification activities are conducted in accordance with ISO/IEC 17021-1, applicable IAF requirements, and the requirements of the relevant accreditation bodies.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and trust.
